September is Suicide Prevention Month-Learn More

Email and Newsletter 2020

September is recognized as National Suicide Prevention Month. One of the primary reasons for a month-long recognition is to raise awareness about suicide. Through awareness, we are more prepared to help prevent this tragedy within our community.

The County of Marin is committed to suicide prevention, education, outreach and support. On Tuesday, our Board of Supervisors plans to approve a Resolution proclaiming September as Suicide Prevention and Recovery Month in Marin County”. In addition, we will hear an update from our Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Team on the Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan and on a new report, “From Compassion to Action: A Community Guide for Suicide Prevention & Support in Marin”.

If you or someone you know needs help, please know that you are not alone. Crisis lines, counselors, intervention programs, and more are available to you, whether you are in crisis yourself or concerned about someone else.

There are several community events taking place this month. Below, please find additional resources. The more we all know about suicide, the more lives we can save.

Many of us have lost someone we loved to suicide or been touched by it. We want to acknowledge those left behind and those who have died. Together, we can learn to know the signs, listen and show support, and work to prevent suicide in our community.
