Marin County Economic Vitality Strategic Plan

Today our Board of Supervisors adopted the County’s first ever Economic Vitality Strategic Plan.

At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Supervisor Damon Connolly and I convened the Marin Economic Recovery Task Force. We quickly assembled Marin’s local Chambers of Commerce, business organizations and elected officials to respond to the effects of the pandemic on our local businesses. These leaders were amazing. They stepped up in numerous ways: getting grants out to struggling businesses and helping them navigate complex application processes; adapting to ever-changing rules and regulations; and finding creative ways to use our downtown spaces to help businesses remain open.

While the taskforce responded to the immediate needs, conversations regarding the mid to long range economic goals were also discussed.

The Marin Economic Forum (MEF), supported by the County, was successful in securing a federal grant to develop a plan to focus on promoting a healthy economy with opportunities for everyone.

A thorough economic analysis, along with robust stakeholder input, determined the actions the strategy would pursue. Many of the initiatives identified are complementary to existing County efforts such as affordable childcare, expanding broadband and equity in jobs.

Next steps will include educating and engaging community partners, many of whom participated in the stakeholder focus groups, to discuss opportunities for collaborative implementation.

Marin’s Economic Vitality Strategic Plan provides a guide for our economic development strategy for the next several years - helping to create a dynamic economy, provide equitable access to good jobs, opportunities for new business creation and a high quality of life for all Marin residents.

Marin Teen Girl Conference

Calling all Marin teen girls in grades 8 - 12! Consider applying to be a Marin Teen Girl Ambassador and help plan the annual Marin Teen Girl Conference scheduled for March 26, 2023. You will make new friends and guide the conference content that teens are interested in learning about.

The application deadline is September 2, 2022. Please help spread the word!

North Marin Community Services Food Drive

We’ve seen an increase in food prices and with that an increased need for food assistance in our community. Please consider helping stock the North Marin Community Services food pantry. Nonperishable (non-expired) food items can be dropped off at 1907 Novato Blvd. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM to 4 PM.
