Marinwood Plaza Update - June 3, 2022
County of Marin, California sent this bulletin at 06/03/2022 10:14 AM PDTDear Neighbors,
I have recently learned that efforts to clean up toxins left behind by the former dry cleaner at Marinwood Plaza are finally set to take a major step forward. The whole building, except for Marinwood Market is scheduled to be demolished, beginning June 6 or 13, pending final approval from PG&E. Demolition is expected to last approximately three weeks.
This action has been many years in the making, and it is long overdue. Reports dating back to 2007 have shown concentrations of PCE, a commonly used dry-cleaning solvent, around the property. After demolition, soil sampling is expected. We are told that the excavation of the contaminated soil and backfilling is expected to take place in August.
The Regional Water Quality Control Board is scheduled to hear updates on Marinwood Plaza on June 8. I intend to appear at the hearing and continue to advocate for the cleanup of the site this year.
Post-excavation sampling is expected to continue on a quarterly basis.
We will keep you posted on any new developments. If someone forwarded this email to you, please subscribe to updates here.
Let's keep talking,
