Information re: Marin Catholic Design Review

To Greenbrae/Kentfield Residents,

Marin Catholic is currently requesting Design Review approval to continue to deploy four mobile lighting units on the school’s athletic field for after-school sports practice during winter months. The proposal will maintain the same type and configuration of lights, and seasonal use (Monday – Friday, 5-7pm, from November through March) that have been permitted by the County since 2016.

In 2016, the County Community Development Department (CDA) requested that Marin Catholic apply for a Temporary Use permit to operate the mobile lights. The temporary use permit prescribed days, time, and months of use (M-F; 5-7pm, Nov – March). The County has renewed the permit three times since its original issuance.

The current application to replace the Temporary Use Permit with a Design Review approval has been submitted in response to a request by the County. The County has asked that the school apply for future permitting of the mobile-light system through a Design Review permit due to changes in the County’s zoning ordinance (development code).

A decision on the application will be issued administratively by the Planning Division between August 23, 2021 and September 12, 2021.
