Community Conversation June 10 about Reopening
The State of California is planning for a wide reopening on June 15 as COVID-19 statistics continue to move in the right direction. What does that mean for Marin’s response efforts? Join an online conversation at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 10, about what’s next for businesses, schools, health care and the community.
The discussion will feature contributions from County Public Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis, Board of Supervisors President Dennis Rodoni, and Kaiser Permanente’s Chief of Critical Care, Dr. Laura Eberhard, and others. Participants will be able to submit questions during the event.
The virtual conversation will take place on Zoom and Facebook. Learn more about participation or viewing. Spanish interpretation and disability accommodations are available.
Health Officers Support Schools Fully Reopening in Fall
Twelve Bay Area Public Health Officers, including Marin’s Dr. Matt Willis, took a united stand Thursday in their deep support for full in-person school instruction when the 2021-22 school year begins. In a news conference in San Francisco, they said the lack of in-person learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted education, weakened the social supports provided by school communities, negatively impacted mental health, and prevented participation in the rituals and shared milestones that tie our communities together.
Public health researchers, the CDC, the California Department of Public Health, and local health departments have learned from the research and experiences of classroom instruction that the risk of COVID-19 transmission among children wearing masks is very low.
