GETTING OUTSIDE WHILE SHELTERING IN PLACE

Getting outside for some fresh air and exercise is always important for our physical and emotional health and well-being, and is even more crucial during this time of sheltering in place.
 Marin's Public Health Officer encourages everyone to spend some time outdoors, with a few important caveats:

Stay local. Many local neighborhoods are walkable, or have trails and parks nearby that are easily accessed by foot or bicycle. Please avoid traveling by car whenever possible, and remember that the shelter in place order encourages everyone to stay as close to home as they can when seeking fresh air and outdoor activity.

Find the path less traveled. If we all congregate at the same hiking trail, beach, or park, it will be difficult to practice appropriate social distancing. Please use your best judgement when choosing your destination, and keep in mind that local residents will be especially impacted by increases in traffic and congestion.

Continue to practice social distancing. While it may be tempting to meet up with friends for a day at the beach, we still need to be at least 6 feet away from people outside our household to help prevent COVID-19 from spreading.
- As always, cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing. Remember that park facilities - restrooms and hand-washing stations, may not always be available - so bring your hand sanitizer. And if you are not feeling well, please stay home.
