District 4 Census Update

Rodoni Header

Dear District 4 Resident:

Thank you for taking the time to read this important message during this challenging time. This year we have the important duty to our community to fill out the 2020 US Census. Among several county benefits, this data will allow your local government to receive the appropriate level of funding from the Federal government. Within the next few days, you will be receiving--via mail--your formal invitation letter with important information to help you and your family complete the 2020 US Census. Once you receive this letter, you can submit your form by calling: 844-330-2020 or online by clicking here

As standard protocol, US Census workers will be visiting all West Marin addresses that currently receive mail via a Post Office Box.  Several West Marin residents have contacted my office with concerns over Census workers visiting their homes to deliver a packet. Given our current order to shelter in place as a result of COVID-19, it understandable that you are concerned with someone visiting your home.

We have contacted the Census Bureau with your concerns. I am glad to report that moving forward the US Census Bureau will be modifying their operation with new protocols to deliver these packets to your residence. In addition, the US Census Bureau has established the COVID-19 Internal Task Force to monitor the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak and Census staff is now following Federal, State and Local public health guidelines. Their local staff have been trained and provided guidance accordingly. Please click here to view a document detailing their new protocols.

Over the next week or so, Census workers will be delivering a packet to all of West Marin addresses and have been instructed to not engage with residents. This packet contains instructions on how to respond online or by phone, as well as the questionnaire itself. Please do not dispose of this packet. In fact, in the event that you not submit your Census form by mid-May, they will deploy enumerators to collect your census information in person. To limit the potential of a Census enumerator visiting your home again, please fill out the Census form early.

I invite you to remain engaged in this effort by visiting our MarinCensus2020.org page to view the most up-to-date information on Census related matters in Marin County.

As always, please feel free to contact my office should you have questions or need assistance of any kind.

Sincerely,

Dennis Rodoni, District 4
