Update from Kate - A Full Moon and High Tides on Thanksgiving

District 3 Banner Image

On behalf of my office, I want to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend - we all have much to be thankful for in this season of gratitude and giving.

I also want to make sure that everyone is aware that we have the trifecta situation that brings flooding to our low-lying areas: a storm, a full moon, and expected tides that are higher than usual.

For everyone, but especially for our out-of-town visitors, it will be particularly important to stay updated about local flooding along our roads and parking areas, such as the Manzanita Park and Ride.

As reference, below are daily high tides predicted to be above 6.0’ Mean Lower Low Water during this weekend:

  • Wed 11/21, 6.13’ @ 9:36 AM*
  • Thur 11/22, 6.35’ @ 10:09 AM*
  • Fri 11/23, 6.50’ @ 10:45 AM*
  • Sat 11/24, 6.56’ @ 11:24 AM*
  • Sun 11/25/18, 6.49’ @ 12:07 PM*
  • Mon 11/26, 6.29’ @ 12:55 PM*

*Add up to 2-hours for northern County areas

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving from all of us here at the Civic Center!
