LA Health Services Hospitals – Part of the County’s Safety Net – Earn U.S. News Honors
Rancho Los Amigos ranked among the nation’s best rehabilitation hospitals; LA General and Harbor–UCLA earn seven High Performing ratings
LOS ANGELES – August 4, 2026 – Three LA Health Services hospitals have earned national and regional recognition in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026–2027 Best Hospitals rankings, highlighting excellence in rehabilitation, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, cancer, and stroke care.
Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center was named the #23 rehabilitation hospital in the country, the #2 rehabilitation hospital in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, and the #3 rehabilitation hospital in California.
Los Angeles General Medical Center earned six High Performing ratings, while Harbor–UCLA Medical Center earned a High Performing rating for diabetes care. High Performing is the highest distinction a hospital can receive in U.S. News’ Procedures & Conditions ratings.
Together, the recognitions reflect the collective strength of LA Health Services and the extraordinary care delivered across the full continuum of the nation’s second-largest public healthcare system.

Rancho Los Amigos’ national ranking recognizes its leadership in helping people rebuild their independence following catastrophic injuries, serious illnesses, and complex medical conditions.

LA General’s six High Performing ratings recognize the breadth and quality of advanced care delivered by multidisciplinary teams serving patients with some of Los Angeles County’s most urgent and complex health conditions.

Harbor–UCLA’s High Performing designation in diabetes care reflects the hospital’s coordinated, evidence-based approach to helping patients manage a complex chronic condition and prevent serious complications.

U.S. News’ annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to help patients and healthcare providers make informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions and elective procedures. Fewer than half of the thousands of hospitals evaluated earned a High Performing designation in the types of care reviewed by U.S. News.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions. The organization analyzed hospital performance using objective measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, and patient experience. Its specialty rankings and Procedures & Conditions ratings use data from more than 800 million patient care records.
