2025-2026 Respiratory Vaccines required for healthcare workers

Dear Colleagues,

We have received a number of inquiries about the LACDPH Health Officer Order concerning healthcare worker vaccination and planning for the 2025-2026 respiratory season.

 

While there has been a lot of confusion surrounding the messaging of the updated COVID and Influenza vaccines for the 2025-2026 season, both vaccines remain recommended for most healthcare workers by the CDC, LACDPH and professional societies.  Influenza, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines remain the most potent tools for avoiding severe disease and death from and transmission of these respiratory pathogens.  Additionally, Influenza and COVID-19 vaccines have been shown to decrease absenteeism among healthcare workers.

 

As in prior years, the LACDPH Health Officer Order No.2024-01-02 requires healthcare workers to receive recommended updated vaccines for both Influenza and COVID-19 or wear a mask for the duration of the 2025-2026 respiratory season (November 1 through March 31).
