This week I had the honor of joining the Kiwanis Club of Rolling Hills Estates for their Vocational and Occupational Learning in Technology (VOLT) Scholarship Luncheon, where we celebrated the students who completed the program this summer.
This program prepares high school graduates for careers in advanced manufacturing and design, and I was so impressed by the determination and resilience that these students embody.
Thank you to the Kiwanis Club, to our educators and families, and most importantly, congratulations to these students. I can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish.

We hosted our annual Back to School Bash in South Whittier this week, and it was great to see how excited these students were to get their school supplies to prepare for this upcoming school year.
It’s hard to believe summer is almost over—but we are making sure these students get their school year off to a good start.

Tonight I am joining the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce in Torrance for their Pakistan Independence Day Festival.
Come enjoy food, music, games and more as we celebrate Pakistani independence.
The partial collapse of the Clearwater Tunnel in Wilmington last month was terrifying.
We are blessed that all of those men made it out and made it home to their families. But this incident raised serious questions for people throughout the Harbor Area communities about this project and how the Sanitation Districts will make sure nothing like this happens again.
We will be hosting a town hall on August 9th to address your questions and concerns about this project.
National Night Out is almost here, and I’m partnering with the City of Artesia to host a night out with local law enforcement and the community at Artesia Park.
Along with free food, display booths and vendors, you can see a helicopter flyover and meet and chat with your local sheriff's deputies, including our Mounted Enforcement Detail.
Stop by on August 5th from 6-8pm.
The Downey Pride Festival is coming up soon!
Head over to Downtown Downey on August 9th from 4-10pm as we celebrate our local LGBTQ+ community with entertainment, food, drinks, and more.
Terrance is an adorable 7-month-old German shepherd mix at our Downey Animal Care Center who is ready to find his forever home.
If you think Terrance could be the one to complete your family, you can find out more about him here or visit him during the Downey Care Center's open hours.
Whether you take home Terrance or you find another furry friend, please do your part to help control the pet population and have your pets spayed or neutered.
