A Life-Changing Transformation
LA County’s most recent Pathway Home encampment resolution operation in West Rancho Dominguez (formerly East Compton) connected nearly 60 people who had been living in encampments or recreational vehicles with safe interim housing, where they are receiving supportive services and other resources to help put them on a path to permanent housing. The operation, a coordinated and compassionate effort carried out by multiple County departments, service providers, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, and the Office of Supervisor Mitchell, also removed 44 RVs and more than 800 cubic yards of debris from community streets, returning the area to its intended use.
New Permanent Housing Opens in Compton
LA County joined its partners the City of Compton and The People Concern to celebrate the grand opening of 100 new homes for people transitioning out of homelessness. Willow Tree, one of LA County’s first conversions of a motel into permanent supportive housing through Homekey, also provides wraparound services such as case management and mental health care to residents to help ensure long-term housing stability.
Home Safe for Mother's Day
Yemerin, Felix, and their two young children fell into homelessness when their rent increased beyond their ability to pay. After a tragic experience at a shelter, Felix moved his family to a station along the Metro A line, where they slept for several nights. Thanks to collaboration among the Long Beach Police Department, Metro, Helpline Youth Counseling, Brilliant Corners, and LA County Department of Health Services Housing for Health, the family will spend Mother’s Day safely and permanently housed together.
