FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WHAT:
Just before 4:00 a.m. on May 1, 2024, firefighters at Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Station 164 were awakened by a passerby who alerted them to a fire inside their own station. Firefighters quickly sprang into action, battling the blaze with the support of neighboring stations. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, but the station suffered extensive damage.
Thanks to the decisive leadership of Los Angeles County Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn and a Board motion submitted by Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone, funding was swiftly allocated to rebuild the station. With the combined efforts of the Los Angeles County Internal Services Department, the LACoFD Construction and Maintenance Division, and the City of Huntington Park, the refurbishment was completed in record time.
After 11 months of serving residents and community members out of a temporary fire station, Chief Marrone will be joined by Supervisor Hahn and other dignitaries to celebrate the reopening and rededication of Fire Station 164, welcoming back firefighters and residents to their hometown fire station in the City of Huntington Park.
