Dear Skilled Nursing Facility partners in Los Angeles County,
Skilled nursing facility (SNF) residents and staff will continue to be vulnerable to influenza, COVID-19, RSV, and other respiratory illnesses this fall and winter. In addition to getting up to date with vaccinations and offering medication treatments, testing for COVID-19 continues to be a critically important tool to protect our vulnerable nursing home community. Ahead of Thanksgiving and the winter holidays it is important to prepare for the increased risk of COVID-19 exposure that occurs as activities start moving indoors and there is increased travel and gatherings for the holidays. We invite our Los Angeles County SNFs to order additional cases of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests from Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH). In addition to helping with response testing and outbreak management, they could also be distributed to the visitors and family members you serve. To increase the amount of tests that are delivered every 2 weeks, please fill out the survey link. To ensure delivery ahead of Thanksgiving, please order tests by Wednesday, November 15th. Tests can also be ordered anytime from LAC DPH, and we will do our best to rush orders ahead of the holidays, if needed. Please feel free to email nCovid-tlt@ph.lacounty.gov if you have any questions.
