Minute for Medicine - The Key to Storytelling
![M4M Storytelling](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/CALACOUNTY/2023/06/7734544/4788000/story-telling-in-healthcare-00-00-43-03-still001_crop.jpg) Storytelling is a powerful tool used in healthcare organizations for a reason. Throughout history, stories have shaped our world. They can communicate a problem, provide context, and present a solution in a person’s life.
In healthcare, stories have the ability to connect us to what truly matters in a patient encounter.
By understanding our patients' stories, we gain insight into their priorities and what matters most to them in their healthcare journey. Sharing stories with colleagues provides a space to express the joys and challenges of caring for others. Moreover, stories have the potential to drive change in healthcare, promoting transparency and enhancing the well-being of healthcare professionals.

The theme for 2023 is ALL OUT WITH PRIDE. The parade will begin on Sunset and Highland, travel north on Highland, east on Hollywood Blvd and South on Cahuenga for about 1 mile. Parade participants can expect to walk approximately one mile.
This is the first time that LA Health Services will be participating as an integrated healthcare system in the LA Pride parade. Staff from all facilities and programs are invited to attend. LA Health Services is the nation’s second largest municipal healthcare system, and our participation is a way of promoting our commitment to providing safe and welcoming health care services to all and promoting the availability of healthcare for LGBTQ+ people in the community.
Participation is open to the first 100 people who sign up to attend. It’s a fun, family-friendly event. Carpooling is encouraged or you can take the Metro B Line (Red) - LA Metro and exit Hollywood/Highland or Hollywood/Vine Station.
Special thanks to workforce members from our EDIA Sub-Committees and the LGBTQIA2-S (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, 2-Spirit) Affinity group for leading in the coordination of DHS’ participation in this year’s parade. Participation is open to all but not mandatory.
Please plan to participate on your (non-county) time.
