Updated Boosters:
- Updated COVID-19 boosters, also called Fall 2022 COVID-19 Boosters, can protect against newer variants.
- Updated booster doses are bivalent. This means they protect against two strains—the original coronavirus and the newer Omicron subvariants (BA.4 and BA.5) that are spreading widely.
- The updated booster is recommended for everyone ages 12 and older at least 2 months after getting fully vaccinated OR after their most recent booster dose.
- This is regardless of how many boosters or which type of vaccine(s) you got in the past.
- Adults 18 and older can get either the Pfizer or Moderna updated booster dose.
- Teens ages 12-17 can only get the Pfizer updated booster dose.
- The Novavax vaccine cannot be given as a booster dose at this time.
