AUGUST IS NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH (NIAM)

This annual observance highlights the importance of making a lifelong commitment to staying current on vaccinations. NIAM presents a reminder to talk with your healthcare provider to ensure you and your family are protected against serious illness and disease by getting caught up on routine vaccinations.

AUGUST IS CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH
August is Child Support Awareness Month, an opportunity to raise awareness about the critical income support program that helps millions of children and families. The support helps families in L.A. LOS ANGELES AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE WELLNESS WALK
The National African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWW) Los Angeles, in partnership with LA County Health Services, is holding the 18th annual walk on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Rancho Cienega Sports Complex. The agency has been addressing health disparities among African American men and the related impact on families. Please consider helping by becoming a vendor, sponsor or providing volunteer support for event setup, registration and/or distributing water and merchandise. LA COUNTY OFFICE OF IMMIGRANT AFFAIRS (OIA) AWARDING GRANTS TO STRENGTHEN IMMIGRANT-FOCUSED CBOS
The Los Angeles County Office of Immigrant Affairs (OIA) in the Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) has announced the launch of the Capacity Strengthening Grants for Immigrant Focused Community Based Organizations initiative.
The program will support community organizations in LA County immigrant residents who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant-specific questions can be addressed to CNM’s Joni Byun at grant@cnmsocal.org or (213) 266-8448.
HERMOSA BEACH HOSTS HOMELESS (HOUSING INITIATIVE) COURT
The Housing Initiative Court gives people experiencing homelessness the opportunity to avoid prosecution on nonviolent misdemeanor charges or municipal code violations in exchange for accepting judge-mandated services that can eventually lead to placement in housing. TAKE METRO HALF-PRICE THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR

Metro has announced that a half-price discount fare program will be extended through the end of the year. Metro one-day passes, which typically cost $7, are discounted to $3.50. Weekly passes are $12.50 instead of $25, and 30-day passes are $50 instead of $100. According to Metro, the agency provided the discounts to “promote affordability and incentivize customers to purchase unlimited-use passes.”
