 COVID-19 Treatments
Most people who test positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms can take medicines to protect themselves from getting very sick. You may be able to get medicines if you have a long-term health condition OR if you are 65 years or older.
Call your clinic right away! A doctor must order COVID-19 medicines and they work best when you take them within 5 days of symptoms. Your doctor will decide if you should get medicines. If needed, medicines you take by mouth to treat COVID-19 can be picked up at DHS pharmacies.
You need a positive COVID-19 test to get medicines. You can take a home test or find a testing location near you by visiting COVID-19: Testing.
To contact a medical provider, call your clinic, have a COVID-19 eVisit on the LA Health Portal, or call the Nurse Advice Line.

 Memorial Day – Clinic Closures
LA Health Services wishes you a happy and safe Memorial Day.
Our clinics will be closed on Monday, May 30th, for Memorial Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 31st.
You can still get medical help through the Physician’s after-hours line, the Nurse Advice Line (7 AM – 7 PM everyday), or by visiting Urgent Care. In case of an emergency, please go to the Emergency Room or call 911.
 CalFresh Awareness Month
May is CalFresh Awareness Month! Many families in LA County have a hard time getting food. Finding healthy, nutritious food to feed our families can be stressful. Luckily, CalFresh is here to help families and individuals put food on their tables. CalFresh gives monthly benefits on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. This can be used to buy food at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other places. CalFresh is also known as SNAP or food stamps. Visit BenefitsCal.com to sign up for CalFresh, General Relief, CalWORKs, and Medi-Cal.
 Critical Care Recognition Month
May is Critical Care Recognition Month. Every year, more than 5 million patients in the U.S. need to stay at an ICU (Intensive Care Unit). We needed Critical Care staff (people who work in ICU) even more during the pandemic. Our critical care team worked nonstop in the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic to make sure every patient got care. LA Health Services would like to recognize and thank those who work in intensive care units.
