Quarantine Requirements:
- Last week, the LA County DPH updated the quarantine requirements for “close contacts” who do not have symptoms, whether they are vaccinated or not.
- You are a “close contact” if you were exposed to COVID-19. This means you were indoors with someone with COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period.
- If you were exposed to COVID-19 and you do not have symptoms, you do not have to quarantine if you follow these three required steps:
- Wear a highly protective mask for 10 days. This is especially important when you are indoors or around other people.
- Take a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. If you test positive, follow the Isolation Requirements. The best time to take a test is 3-5 days after your exposure.
- Watch for symptoms for 10 days after your exposure. If you start to have symptoms, take a COVID-19 test, stay home and away from others, and follow the Isolation requirements.
- People who live or work in a high-risk setting still must quarantine when they are exposed, even if they do not have symptoms.
- Examples of high-risk settings include healthcare facilities and emergency shelters.
