Vaccine Booster Doses:

  • LA County is offering booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine to people who received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago and are either:
    • 65 years or older.
    • Residents of long-term care facilities.
    • 18 to 64 years old with underlying medical conditions.
    • 18 to 64 years at high risk because of where they work. This includes healthcare workers, first responders, teachers and day care staff, grocery workers, and workers in homeless shelters and prisons.
  • Booster doses are only available to people who received the Pfizer vaccine. We are still waiting for the FDA to review data about boosters for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines to make sure they are safe and necessary.
  • If you have questions about the risks and benefits or whether a booster dose is right for you, talk to your doctor or healthcare provider.
  • Booster doses are common for many vaccines. Boosters help make sure protection against COVID-19 lasts as long as possible.
  • All vaccines continue to offer strong protection against getting really sick or dying from COVID-19.
  • How to Get a Booster Dose:
    • Use the MyTurn website or make an appointment at a pharmacy or clinic that offers the Pfizer vaccine. Click here to find a site near you.
    • Bring proof that you have received two Pfizer doses already. You can bring the white vaccination card, a photo of the white card, or a digital record.
    • If you need a ride to get your vaccination, you can call 1-(833)-540-0473 and Public Health will provide free transportation.

Vaccine Third Doses for Immunocompromised People:

  • All County-run sites are offering third doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to eligible immunocompromised people. LA County providers have given more than 80,000 third doses so far.

Vaccine Requirements:

  • Attendees at indoor events with 1,000 or more people are required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result prior to entry. This includes conventions, conferences, expos, concerts, shows, nightclubs, sporting events, live entertainment, and festivals.
  • Starting on October 7th, other events and venues will require proof of vaccination:
    • All attendees, ages 12 and over, at outdoor mega events involving 10,000 or more people will need to show proof of full vaccination or a negative test result prior to entry.
    • Proof of vaccination will be required at indoor parts of bars, breweries, wineries, distilleries, nightclubs and lounges. Customers and employees are required to have at least one dose of a vaccine by October 7th and be fully vaccinated by November 4th. Proof of vaccination at indoor parts of restaurants is not required at this time. It is recommended.
    • The LA County DPH created a Business Toolkit to help businesses verify vaccination status and negative tests. The toolkit includes verification instructions, signage, and other resources.

Testing:

  • Get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. Remember—you don’t know if it’s just a cold unless you get tested. Find a testing site near you at https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
  • Stay away from others and stay home from work or school if you have COVID-19 symptoms. If you test positive, isolate and tell your close contacts.
