 Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15 to October 15 we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. During this time we recognize the culture, contributions, and heritage of Hispanic Americans. This national observance started in 1968 as a weeklong observance and was extended to a month in 1988. Many Latin American countries' independence days are represented throughout September and October. To learn more about the rich history, diverse cultures, and influence of the Hispanic community, visit the LA County library for fun activity ideas, virtual events, and educational resources.

 9/11 - We Will Remember
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The events that took place on September 11, 2001, have forever changed the way we live. We take this time to remember those who lost their lives during the attacks and honor the firefighters, paramedics and police officers who bravely sacrificed themselves in the line of duty to help those in need. With the recent news in Afghanistan, this may also be a hard time for our veterans, friends and family of those who have served our country in the military. If you need support, please call the Veterans Peer Access Network at 1-800-854-7771 and press *3 or visit the LA County Department of Mental Health Veteran Services page for assistance.
