Dear Friends –
The good news keeps coming! This week, the Los Angeles Department of Public Health announced new sectors that are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccines. Starting March 1st, workers in food and agriculture, education and childcare, and emergency services will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
In addition, as we await additional vaccine supply so more groups can be vaccinated, we are focused on reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. On Wednesday, we formally launched a partnership with the State of California, LA Voice and Los Angeles Department of Health Services to bring COVID-19 testing sites to Latinx churches! This partnership will help us reach even more communities in the First District and keep them safe.
I remain optimistic that we are getting closer with each passing week to the day when we can put this pandemic behind us. Until then, we must continue to wear a mask, wash our hands, and physically distance.
With each passing week, we are receiving more updates on vaccine supply and distribution and we will continue to share those with you to ensure you are up to date. I want you to know that you can reach out to my office with any questions you might have - we are here to serve you.
Sincerely,
Chair Hilda L. Solis
Supervisor, First District

As I noted earlier, this week we launched a partnership with the State of California, LA Voice and Los Angeles Department of Health Services to bring COVID-19 testing sites to Latinx churches! And the best part? It's free, does not require registration and is open to everyone regardless of health insurance or immigration status.
By providing greater access to testing, we are removing barriers and ensuring more community members can stay safe and healthy as we await more vaccine supply.

I am proud to share that mobile vaccination clinics continue to be deployed into hard hit areas of the First District at my direction.
Today, we witnessed a mobile vaccination clinic in partnership with SEIU-USWW that included frontline workers who provide essential services at our airports and hospitals across LA County. During times of tragedy, it is always our unions that step up to ensure our Latinx and Black residents are supported. That is why I am thankful for their support and efforts to register and vaccinate as many of their frontline workers as possible.
I will continue to advocate and advance efforts that ensure an equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to our communities that need it most.
LA County is here to help residents facing food insecurity during the pandemic. Residents can call 2-1-1 for help or visit: covid19.lacounty.gov/food/
