Los Angeles, CA - Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, in collaboration with Total Testing Solutions, announces the opening of a new COVID-19 testing site in Huntington Park. This free testing site, which opened Monday, will keep communities in Southeast Los Angeles County healthy and will help slow the spread of the virus by identifying individuals who need to isolate and receive medical care.
“Our hardworking families in Southeast Los Angeles County have been hit particularly hard by COVID-19, which is why I have been advocating to make testing more available,” said Supervisor Solis. “I thank Total Testing Solutions for their commitment in making sure all residents are safe and healthy. This private-public partnership will remove barriers to healthcare and help us flatten the curve in communities throughout Southeast Los Angeles.”
With higher rates of poverty and overcrowding, the Southeast Los Angeles communities of Huntington Park, Bell, and South Gate have reported an increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19.
"Total Testing Solutions is proud to continue to expand its testing capacity to communities most affected by COVID-19,” said Lauren Trenkle, chief executive officer for Total Testing Solutions. “With the opening of our new Huntington Park location, we will bring much needed free testing to another community that has been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. We are thankful for the partnership with Supervisor Solis and the First District for allowing us to serve the Latino community. We will continue to work hard to provide much needed testing for all those in need."
Essential workers in Southeast Los Angeles will benefit from this testing site.
"Supervisor Solis and Dr. Trenkle's commitment to providing testing to the Huntington Park community that has been consistently underserved during the pandemic will help reduce the spread of the virus," said John Grant, president of UFCW Local 770. "We know that the virus is disproportionately impacting essential workers, the majority of whom are people of color, because they are working on the frontlines and risking exposure every day on the job. Increasing access to testing is incredibly important for the well-being of the community and we are thankful that testing for UFCW members will be free."
All on-site testing will be conducted by appointment only. The site will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday. For more information, please visit covid19.lacounty.gov/testing or dial 2-1-1 or call 323-238-3324.
