Now accepting applications: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Disaster Relief Assistance for Immigrants

Immigrant Resources

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, California is providing one-time state-funded disaster relief assistance to undocumented adults who are ineligible for other forms of assistance, including assistance under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and pandemic unemployment benefits, because of their immigration status. This state funding is expected to reach about 150,000 undocumented adults. The program will provide $500 in direct assistance to those who qualify, and a maximum of $1,000 in assistance per household.

The following organizations are now accepting applications:

Our Office of Immigrant Affairs works year-round to refer immigrants to resources. Visit their website for the latest info during this emergency.

Credit reports are now free, every week due to COVID-19

Monitoring your credit report is one important tool to help people manage their financial data. The three major credit reporting agencies: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax will now offer consumers free, weekly credit reports until April 2021 due to the pandemic.

The economic fallout from the pandemic will likely cause many people to fall behind on credit bills and other debt. Many lenders are allowing consumers to delay payments without negative credit reporting, however, everyone should review their credit report themselves to verify that their accounts are still reported as being in good standing.

Additionally, whenever there is a time of crisis, scammers find new opportunities to commit identity theft and other crimes. Checking credit reports more often allows us to spot mistakes and potential ID theft right away so we can take immediate action to resolve those issues. Free, weekly credit reports are available at AnnualCreditReport.com
