LA County Parks and Recreation Kicks-Off
10th Year of Parks After Dark at 33 Locations
WHAT:
The award-winning LA County Parks and Recreation, Parks After Dark (PAD) program is celebrating 10 years of Family, Fun, and Fitness at 33 Los Angeles County Parks. PAD provides free recreational and social opportunities for youth and families during extended evening hours. PAD is offered to all when students are out of school.
Activities and special events will vary depending on the park. Programming includes color runs, cooking classes, basketball clinics, senior bingo, boxing, and evening painting. Sessions are available for all ages, including toddlers, children, youth, young adults, families, and seniors.
This summer, OUR SPOT, a new teen program, has been introduced at nine PAD parks. Our Spot empowers students to reach their full potential by providing a safe place to meet friends, be mentored, and includes health and fitness classes. OUR SPOT is a year-round program that takes place after-school.
WHO:
PAD is led by the Department of Parks and Recreation, with strong support from partners including the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Chief Executive Office, Sheriff’s Department, Department of Mental Health, Department of Public Health, Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services, Probation Department, Department of Children and Family Services, Arts Commission, and many community-based organizations.
WHEN:
PAD programming will be available, starting Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, August 3, 2019.

PAD: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

OUR SPOT: Summer Hours, Tuesday – Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday – Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
