Organizers will issue mandatory wristbands this weekend in advance of the free annual clinic
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Department
of Public Social Services (DPSS) Outreach Team will be at the Care Harbor LA Clinic
October 13-15 at The Reef in downtown LA to offer patients enrollment in
Medi-Cal healthcare and CalFresh nutrition programs.
Mandatory
Wristband Distribution Oct. 6-7
This weekend, Oct. 6-7, Care Harbor
LA will issue wristbands in advance of the annual clinic. Wristbands are mandatory
for those attending the three-day clinic to seek services, and may be obtained
beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6 at Ted Watkins Park in Los Angeles,
and Sunday, October 7 at Los Angeles Trade Technical College in downtown Los
Angeles.
What
To Expect
Care Harbor is an annual volunteer mega
clinic providing a range of free healthcare services to the county’s uninsured
and underinsured residents. It has become both a destination for needed care
and a gateway to a healthier life for thousands who attend.
Many
of the county’s most vulnerable residents, including our homeless, depend on
the Care Harbor LA Clinic to fill a gap in their healthcare services. Each year, volunteer doctors, nurses,
dentists, optometrists and other professionals provide primary and specialty
care, immunizations, screenings, eye exams, dental extractions and various
other procedures – all free of charge.
“Care
Harbor is a place of hope for those without access to affordable healthcare,”
says DPSS Director Antonia Jiménez. “DPSS is very proud to be at the clinic to
help uninsured and underinsured residents enroll in Medi-Cal and CalFresh to
meet their health and nutrition needs.”
