Hundreds of DPSS Employees Volunteer This Weekend to Help the Homeless

WHAT:
On Saturday, May 12, 2018, DPSS Acting Director Antonia Jimenez will be joined by 350 Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) employees to volunteer to Help the Homeless on Skid Row and along the Los Angeles River. Volunteers have collected hundreds of clothing items and are assembling toiletry and hygiene kits. They will deploy to the Weingart Center, Midnight Mission and Union Rescue Mission, where they will be participating in these efforts:

Weingart Center: Sorting clothing, assembling toiletry and hygiene kits and distributing; assembling and distributing Mother’s Day flower bouquets; hosting a Hot Dog BBQ for the homeless; and beautification projects.

Midnight Mission: Serving lunch and distributing hygiene kits.

Union Rescue Mission: Beautification projects and distributing hygiene kits.

On Foot Street Outreach: Distributing hygiene and toiletry kits to the homeless on the streets of Skid Row and along the Los Angeles River.

DPSS Medi-Cal Outreach District: Our DPSS Outreach Team will conduct Medi-Cal and CalFresh enrollment and provide information about other DPSS programs and services. They will be positioned at the Parking Lot located at 566 S. San Pedro St. Los Angeles, CA 90013.
