Home Energy Audit Training (HEAT) Program

Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) is now accepting applications for the Home Energy Audit Training (HEAT) Program. The HEAT Program is designed to help build a local network of Home Energy Score (HES) Assessors, which is a state program developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The HEAT program will support 10 individuals in Orange County in receiving training to meet entry-level DOE requirements to become an HES assessor and support future residential energy audits. 

Program Details

• Orange County participants will receive a $250 reimbursement for one (1) entry-level certification needed to enter the assessor pathway. Credential examples include:
• American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Inspector 
• California Real Estate Inspection Association Home Inspector 
• Building Performance Institute (BPI) certificates

Give Thanksgiving Scraps a Second Life

Show your thanks to the environment this Thanksgiving by making sure to recycle! After your holiday meal, place fruit and vegetable scraps, plate scrapings, napkins and other compostable materials in your green-lid organics cart. Composting helps divert organic materials from landfills, creates natural fertilizers, and supports local sustainability efforts.

Residential Lawn and Garden Equipment Rebate

The City of Irvine has partnered with South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to assist Irvine residents with the transition to zero-emission lawn and garden equipment.

Residential lawn and garden equipment rebates are now available for Irvine residents. Each household can receive up to three rebates over the lifetime of the program, but only for different pieces of equipment. The rebate cannot exceed the purchase price of the equipment (excluding taxes and delivery).
