Help Shape Projects that Improve Mobility and Roadway Safety

Help enhance safety, accessibility, and mobility in Irvine. The City is exploring improvement options for Yale Avenue north of the I-405 Freeway as well as street crossings along the Venta Spur Trail. Learn more about these projects and share your feedback at an upcoming Community Workshop:

Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge (CIP 321601)

Harvard Avenue & Michelson Drive Intersection Improvements

One eastbound and one westbound lane on Michelson Drive at Harvard Avenue are closed as work continues on the Harvard Avenue and Michelson Drive Intersection Improvements project. 

Phase 3 is underway and will continue through September. Work occurs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This intersection widening project will enhance traffic flow through the intersection and improve signal timing coordination along the Harvard Avenue and Michelson Drive corridors.

The City is removing and replacing asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, curb ramps, and sidewalk, as well as modifying traffic signal equipment behind temporary traffic control delineators and permanent K-rail lane closures. The project is anticipated to be completed this fall.

Jamboree Road and Main Street Intersection Enhancements

The Jamboree Road and Main Street Intersection project is underway with work occurring weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The project, which will continue through winter, will widen and enhance the intersection and reduce traffic congestion on Jamboree Road and Main Street. Specific improvements include lengthening left turn lanes, removing islands at southwest and southeast corners, modifying the traffic signal system, implementing drainage, water quality, and street lighting upgrades, as well as installing Class II bike lanes. 

Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions, but delays should be expected. Please consider using alternate routes.

Main

San Diego Creek Trail Closure

The San Diego Creek Trail between Spectrum and the Los Olivos community is closed daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, September 18as crews remove vegetation along the trail. 


State Route 55 Dyer Road Lane Closures

Orange County Transportation Authority crews will be performing pave work along Dyer Road, which requires closing eastbound and westbound Dyer Road underneath the freeway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, September 18. 

This work is part of the Orange County Transportation Authority's State Route 55 Improvement Project. Please visit octa.net/55Construction for more information. 


State Route 133 Closures

The southbound State Route 133 between Great Park Boulevard and the I-5 Freeway will be closed through Thursday, September 17, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday, September 18, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

In addition, the northbound State Route 133 between the I-5 Freeway and Great Park Boulevard will be closed through Thursday, September 17, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday, September 18, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
