Walk, Ride, and Celebrate Irvine's Newest Trail Connection

Be among the first to experience the Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge during a community ribbon-cutting celebration Tuesday, August 11, from 9 to 10 a.m.

The nearly 1,200-foot-long bridge is the largest bicycle and pedestrian bridge in Irvine, creating an important connection to the regional trail system that stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Santa Ana Mountains and Cleveland National Forest.

Guests are encouraged to bike to the celebration and be among the first to walk or cycle across the bridge. 

55th Anniversary Homecoming Dance

The dance floor is calling! Celebrate 55 years of Irvine Saturday, August 8, 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Great Park with a homecoming-themed dance party where past meets present on the dance floor.

Guests are encouraged to dress in homecoming attire inspired by their favorite year or era. Think varsity vibes, throwback glamour, bold colors, and classic dance-floor flair. 

Kick things off with a happy hour, featuring discounted food and drinks for purchase, then dance, celebrate, and toast to the City's 55th anniversary. Enjoy a DJ Dance Party, a Silent DJ Zone, and live music by Jukebox during an unforgettable night at the Great Park. 

Limited seating will be available at the event; guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Share Feedback on Irvine's Prohousing Application

The City of Irvine is applying for California's Prohousing Designation, and community input is an important part of the process — review the draft application and provide your feedback.

Earning this designation demonstrates the City's commitment to addressing housing availability and affordability while strengthening the City's competitiveness for state funding that supports affordable housing. 

Community feedback will be accepted through September 22. 

Holiday Faire Vendor Applications Available

Do you have a handmade collection, original artwork, or a creative business to share? The Irvine Fine Arts Center is looking for makers, artists, and creatives to be part of this year’s Holiday Faire.

Returning Saturday, November 7, to the Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex, the Holiday Faire brings hundreds of shoppers together to discover unique artwork, handmade goods, and one-of-a-kind gifts.

Applications close August 31. 

Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival Information for Great Park Neighborhood Residents

Daisy Chain Fields, a new music festival founded by Olivia Rodrigo and produced by C3 Presents, comes to the Great Park Saturday, August 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The inaugural festival will feature performances by female-led artists, including Chappell Roan, Mitski, Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, Bikini Kill, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Great Park neighbors may notice increased event activity beginning August 23, including temporary structures, staging, equipment deliveries, and additional staff throughout portions of the park. Event breakdown will continue through September 2. Temporary lane and street closures will be in effect August 29, and Dash Passes will be available for residents who need access through designated Resident Access Only streets. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center to Remain Open Through 2027

The City of Irvine has extended the lease for the Irvine Regional Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center through December 31, 2027, allowing the facility to remain open at its current location while a permanent site is identified.

The collection center, located at 6411 Oak Canyon, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is closed on rainy days and holidays. Proof of Orange County residency is required to drop off household hazardous waste.

Fall Registration Opens August 15

Get ready for a season of learning, creativity, and fun. Fall classes, camps, sports, fitness, arts, and after-school programs are now available to preview at yourirvine.org. Registration opens Saturday, August 15, at 6 a.m.

Before registration begins, make sure your YourIrvine account is ready:

• Create or sign in to your account at yourirvine.org.
• Update family information, including birthdates and grade levels.
• Complete the Participant Permission & Medical Data Form.

Payment Information

Effective July 1, a 2.4% nonrefundable convenience fee applies to all credit and debit card payments and is calculated at checkout. The fee supports secure payment processing, card administration, and banking services.

To avoid the convenience fee, pay by cash or check at one of the following locations: Civic Center West, Portola Springs Community Center, City of Irvine Athletics Office, Turtle Rock Community Center, Heritage Park Community Center, William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, and Irvine Fine Arts Center. Please call ahead to confirm hours. At all other community centers, payment is accepted by check or exact cash only.

Pacific Symphony's SummerFest Presents The Music of ABBA

Relive the music of one of the world's most iconic pop groups Saturday, August 22, as Arrival from Sweden joins the Pacific Symphony for The Music of ABBA during SummerFest 2026 at Great Park Live.

Sing along to favorites like "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," "Super Trouper," and "Money, Money, Money" as Arrival from Sweden recreates the magic of ABBA with dazzling costumes, electrifying performances, and the full sound of the Pacific Symphony under the direction of conductor Evan Roider.
