Share Your Pet's Photo in the Irvine Animal Care Center Annual Fundraiser
The Irvine Animal Care Center annual Photo Fundraiser returns Saturday, August 1. Submit your favorite pet photo for a chance to be featured in the 2027 Irvine Animal Care Center wall calendar while supporting programs that provide enhanced care and lifesaving opportunities for animals in need.
Photo submissions will be accepted Saturday, August 1, through Monday, August 31. Entries are $25 each, and friends and family can vote for their favorites for $1 per vote.
Every eligible photo that receives at least five votes will appear in the 2027 wall calendar, while the top 13 vote-getters will earn a full-page feature. Participants will also receive one complimentary calendar, with additional copies available for purchase.
Proceeds benefit the Irvine Animal Care Center's Enhanced Care, Foster Care, and Third Chance for Pets programs, which provide advanced medical treatment, temporary foster homes, and additional opportunities for animals transferred from overcrowded shelters to receive care while awaiting adoption.

Extreme Heat Warning in Effect This Week
Cooling Centers Open During Extreme Heat Warning
The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning through Monday, July 27, at 8 p.m.
To help residents stay safe during the heat wave, all City of Irvine facilities are open as cooling centers, providing a comfortable, air-conditioned space to cool off. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy recreation programs, read a book, or simply escape the heat. City cooling centers are also available for pets that meet the City's animal requirements.

Celebrate basketball, art, and community Sunday, July 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Great Park's newly renovated mural-covered courts. Enjoy basketball challenge stations, a professional dunk show, live music from a DJ, and the GAME! Basketball and Contemporary Art exhibition.
Guests can receive a free custom basketball featuring artwork by Katy Ann Gilmore, while supplies last. A total of 300 basketballs will be available, limited to one per participant. The event is free, open to all ages, and registration is not required.
