I-5 Improvement Project Construction Impacts

The Orange County Transportation Authority, in partnership with Caltrans, is improving the I-5 Freeway between the I-405 Freeway and State Route 55 to reduce congestion, enhance safety, and improve travel.

Construction activities are expected to take place along the northbound I-5 Culver Drive on-ramp area for the construction of a new retaining wall in late June, continuing through late 2026.

Daytime work will occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind concrete barriers. Nighttime work will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and will require freeway lane closures and intermittent closures of ramps including the northbound I-5 Culver Drive on-ramp.

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, there will be no work or closures Friday, July 3, through the morning of Monday, July 6.

For a full list of anticipated weekly closures and detours, and the most up-to-date project information, visit octa.net/I-5Project.

Revive the 405 Project Activities

These activities require nightly intermittent lane, ramp, and connector closures.

In observance of Independence Day, there will be no roadway closures from Friday night, July 3, through the afternoon of Monday, July 6. Normal construction activities and roadway closures will resume Monday night, July 6.
