Know Before You Go — CicloIrvine: An Open Streets Event
CicloIrvine returns Saturday, May 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting the community to walk, bike, and roll along a 1.3-mile car-free stretch of Irvine Boulevard between Culver Drive and Parkwood.
Here are tips to help you make the most of the event.

What to Bring
- Reusable water bottle — water stations will be available for refills.
- Sun protection, including sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
- Comfortable clothing and shoes.
- Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, roller skates — anything with wheels you would like to ride. E-bikes must be street-legal.

GAME! Basketball and Contemporary Art opens Sunday, May 17, at Great Park Gallery, exploring the connection between basketball, art, and culture. A free opening reception will be held May 17, from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring a hands-on Mini Hoops art activity for all ages. The exhibition includes large-scale court designs by Project Backboard and highlights how the game inspires creativity and community.

Splash In Safety Movie Night

Make a splash Saturday, May 9, 5:30 p.m., at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 4601 Walnut Ave. Enjoy a recreation swim movie night with swimming, inflatable obstacle courses, and diving board fun.
Relax poolside or float while watching The Parent Trap on the big screen.
Stop by the Water Safety Booth for tips on staying safe in and around the water. Families can also exchange non–Coast Guard-approved flotation devices for a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket at no cost.
Admission is $5 per adult and $2.50 per child. Payment accepted at the pool.

The application deadline for the 42nd Irvine Annual has officially been extended to Thursday, May 7. Artists ages 18 and older are invited to apply for this juried exhibition highlighting bold ideas and fresh perspectives across a wide range of visual media. Selected works will be exhibited at the Irvine Fine Arts Center, July 11–September 5.
Applications close Thursday, May 7.

Irvine Nights: Swift Nation 2026
Saturday, May 9, doors open at 6 p.m.
Enjoy a night of Taylor Swift’s biggest hits as Swift Nation returns to Great Park Live. This all-ages tribute show takes audiences on a musical journey through every era of Taylor Swift’s career, featuring a live band and sing-along favorites. Free parking is available.
Tickets are available at greatparklive.com. VIP, reserved seating, and general admission options are available. Children ages 3 and older require a ticket.
Kids Zone inflatable wristbands are available for purchase and include unlimited access to inflatables and one round of mini golf. Adirondack chair and locker rentals will be available for purchase onsite.

All May: Mental Health Awareness Month
Millions of Americans live with mental illness. Mental Health Month, first observed in 1949 by Mental Health America, raises awareness, reduces stigma, and encourages people to seek support when needed.
This year’s campaign highlights how surroundings affect mental health, encouraging individuals to look around and look within. Topics include safe and stable housing, healthy home environments, neighborhoods and communities, and access to nature.
