April 13–15: Songkran
Songkran is a traditional festival in Thailand that marks the Thai New Year. Celebrated from April 13 to April 15, it is also known as the Water Festival, reflecting the custom of splashing water as a symbol of renewal and good fortune.
The tradition began with people pouring water over the hands of elders to receive blessings. Today, it has evolved into lively celebrations with water activities, parades, and cultural events.
During Songkran, people clean their homes, visit temples, and offer food and flowers to Buddhist monks. Many also wear traditional clothing, celebrating Thailand’s rich culture and heritage.
