Roadway Improvements and Traffic Advisories

April 8–15, 2026

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Traffic Signal Shutdown at Alton Parkway and Pacifica

The traffic signal at Alton Parkway and Pacifica will be turned off or placed in red flash mode from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 9.

Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions, but delays should be expected, and motorists should consider using alternate routes when possible.

College Park and Colony Park Neighborhood Street Rehabilitation

As part of the Street Rehabilitation Program, the City is performing pavement rehabilitation on local and residential streets in the College Park and Colony Park neighborhoods. The project team will make every effort to complete the project efficiently and minimize disruption to the community.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 13, and will occur weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on residential streets and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on arterial streets through June.

Access to streets and driveways may be temporarily restricted while work is underway. Parking within the neighborhoods may also be limited during construction activities; vehicles must be parked outside the posted work areas until construction is complete and signage is removed. Access to businesses and private streets or communities will be maintained throughout the project.

Marine Way Extension and Undercrossing Project

Progress on the Marine Way Underpass and Extension Project is truly being set in stone this week.

In less than 24 hours, crews poured 1,700 cubic yards of concrete to form the bottom of the Marine Way underpass structure. Work will now transition to forming the walls of the underpass.

The concrete for the Borrego Channel tunnel structure is continuing to dry and crews are beginning to remove the internal forms used to support the concrete.

Specialized crews are setting up and receiving materials this week to prep horizontal drilling for pipeline relocation work to lower existing utility lines along the railroad tracks below the new underpass structure. Work is scheduled to start next week.

We are looking forward to improving access to the Great Park while enhancing safety and supporting cleaner transportation options.
