Become a Cool Block Leader and Learn to Compost
Cool Irvine is offering two upcoming opportunities to help residents build a more sustainable and climate-ready community.
Train to Be a Cool Block Leader Residents are invited to apply to become a Cool Block Leader and support their neighborhood with simple, practical actions that reduce carbon emissions, prepare for extreme weather, and strengthen community connections.
Training and materials are provided, and participants who complete the program may receive a stipend of up to $150. Applications for the spring cohort are due March 6. Learn more at coolirvine.org/coolblock.
Composting Workshop Learn how to reduce food waste and create nutrient-rich compost at home during a hands-on composting workshop. Participants will learn three methods: hot composting, cold composting, and vermicomposting.
The workshop takes place Saturday, February 21, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at Irvine United Congregational Church. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
Together, these programs offer easy ways to support sustainability while learning new skills and connecting with the community.
