A New Route to the Great Park
The City of Irvine is advancing the Marine Way Grade Separation and Borrego Channel project to improve access and traffic circulation into and around the Great Park. While Marine Way runs along the southern edge of the park, there is currently no direct rail crossing or direct road access into the Great Park from Marine Way and Barranca, where Marine Way currently ends.
The project will create a new rail undercrossing at Marine Way, providing a direct connection between the Great Park and the Spectrum area — the nearest crossings are located at Sand Canyon Avenue and Alton Parkway. The Marine Way road extension will connect the two existing termini of Marine Way at the Great Park, and Marine Way and Barranca. These new routes will reduce travel distances, ease congestion, and save drivers time and fuel.

Bosque Enhancement Project Update
The Bosque Enhancement project is underway and will renovate the existing landscaping between Cadence and Benchmark, bringing new improvements for the community. Planned upgrades include refreshed landscaping throughout the area and a new playground space for visitors to enjoy.
Tree planting is in progress, with crews installing new trees and making adjustments to support long-term growth and site conditions. As part of the Great Park Framework Plan, the project will enhance the Bosque by increasing the tree canopy and improving the overall appearance of the trail corridor.
Work includes clearing weeds and debris, planting more than 400 new trees, installing more than 30,000 shrubs, and upgrading irrigation systems to support the new landscaping.

The Canopy Continues to Take Shape at the Great Park
Construction continues at The Canopy at the Great Park, with visible progress across the site. Vertical construction is underway, underground utility work is expected to be complete within the next two months, and the first layer of asphalt has been placed along the main drive aisles. Grading has also begun on the future In-N-Out pad.
The Canopy is a 12-acre, all-day destination that will feature more than 90,000 square feet of retail, dining, and everyday services in the heart of the Great Park neighborhoods. The project is on schedule and moving toward a late 2026 opening.
