Pickleball Courts Opening at Mike Ward Community Park — Woodbridge
Eight new pickleball courts are opening next month at Mike Ward Community Park, expanding recreational opportunities for players of all ages.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled Tuesday, February 3, at 3 p.m., weather permitting, and will feature the local pickleball community showcasing the courts. The project includes shade structures, picnic tables, benches, and water bottle filling stations, along with a sound-dampening barrier to reduce noise.
The lighted courts will offer daily drop-in play, reservations, and programs. Reservations and registration will be available at yourirvine.org. Learn more at cityofirvine.org/pickleball.

Suggested Routes to School
Suggested Routes to School (SRTS) is a City of Irvine program focused on improving safety around schools and encouraging students, families, and staff to walk, bike, or roll to school. In partnership with Irvine Unified School District, Tustin Unified School District, and local public schools, the City developed customized SRTS plans for 45 public schools across Irvine.
Each participating school received a School-Based Mobility Assessment, a Suggested Routes to School map, and an action plan informed by community input through surveys, school outreach, and public workshops.

Free Tax Filing
The City of Irvine, in partnership with Orange County United Way, is offering free tax preparation services for eligible taxpayers who earned less than $69,000 in 2025.
Qualifying individuals who live, work, or attend school in Irvine can receive assistance from IRS-trained and certified volunteers, including help applying for available tax credits such as the state and federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
OC Free Tax Prep is available at Harvard Community Center, 14701 Harvard Avenue, Tuesdays, February 3 through April 7, noon to 6 p.m. Appointments are required. To schedule, call 211 or 1-888-600-4357, option 7.

Fair Housing Fundamentals Workshop
Learn about your rights and responsibilities as a renter or property owner at the Fair Housing Fundamentals workshop Tuesday, February 10, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This free, virtual session will cover topics including disability rights, accommodations and modifications, eviction basics, harassment and retaliation, and housing needs for seniors and veterans. Applications are Open
Applications are now open for the 2026 Studio Arts Festival, a one-day outdoor event celebrating local artisans and crafters. The juried festival features original work across a variety of media and highlights the creativity of regional artists. The entry deadline is February 10 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

January: National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month
National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month raises awareness about human trafficking and encourages individuals and communities to take action to prevent and report this crime.
Human trafficking is a form of modern day slavery that involves the exploitation of people for labor or commercial sex and affects individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Throughout the month, organizations across the country share resources and information to help the public recognize the signs of trafficking, support survivors, and promote efforts that strengthen prevention and protection.
