Emergency Food Drive to Support Local Residents
The City of Irvine, in partnership with the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, OC Hunger Alliance, South County Outreach, and local businesses and organizations, is hosting an emergency food drive Saturday, November 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to support residents affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Community members are encouraged to come together in support of neighbors experiencing food insecurity by donating nonperishable food items. Donations can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza.

Be Rain Ready
An atmospheric river is expected to bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall to Irvine and Orange County from Thursday, November 13, through Saturday, November 15, which may result in localized flooding and wind damage.
Sandbags are available upon request at the City’s Operations Support Facility (OSF), 6427 Oak Canyon Road, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Up to 10 sandbags per household are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents must check in at the office and show proof of residency.
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) also offers free sand and bags at several locations, including Station 36, 301 E. Yale Loop in Irvine. Be sure to bring a shovel to fill your bags. For additional OCFA locations, visit ocfa.org.
Residents can report downed trees, flooding, or other rain-related issues through the Access Irvine app, online at cityofirvine.org/howcanwehelp, or by calling 949-724-7600 during business hours, or 949-724-7000 on weekends, holidays, or after hours. For power outages, visit sce.com/outage.

2/11 Holiday Toy Drive: Brighten the Holidays for Marine Families
Help spread holiday cheer by donating to the City of Irvine’s annual Holiday Toy Drive, benefiting families of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marines. Now through December 13, the community is invited to donate new, unwrapped gifts for infants and children ages 12 and older at convenient drop-off locations throughout the City.
Nine City facilities serve as drop-off locations. There are also two drive-thru drop-off events taking place Sunday, December 7, and Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Irvine Civic Center parking lot.

Experience “Splinters” and “Swing Shift” at the Irvine Fine Arts Center
Arts in Irvine invites the community to the opening reception of both Alisa Ochoa: Splinters and Swing Shift Saturday, November 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Irvine Fine Arts Center.
Through ceramics, video, sculpture, and sound, these two exhibitions explore themes of memory, loss, and the invisible labor that shapes our everyday lives. Step into immersive installations where grief meets love, and artistry becomes an act of endurance and renewal.

Interest List Now Open: Volar Phase I
New affordable apartment homes are available at Volar Phase I, located at 1100 Volar. A total of 25 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are available through the City’s Affordable Housing Program.
Interest list applications are open now through December 29, 2025, at volarirvine.com/affordablehousing. Those who join the list online will receive an email confirmation immediately.
Individuals without internet access can call 858-200-2245 to be added to the interest list and will receive a confirmation letter by mail. If confirmation is not received, contact the Garden Communities Affordable Housing Team at affordablehousing@gardencommunitiesca.com or 858-200-2245. A lottery will be conducted January 5, 2026, after the interest list closes.

November 16: International Day for Tolerance Proclaimed by UNESCO in 1995, this day promotes respect, understanding, and appreciation for the diversity of people and cultures worldwide.
