Irvine City Council Appoints Sean Crumby as City Manager
The Irvine City Council unanimously appointed Sean Crumby as the City’s seventh City Manager, effective immediately. The appointment was approved at the October 28 Council meeting.
Crumby brings nearly 30 years of municipal leadership experience, including more than 17 years in executive and director-level roles. Before serving as Irvine’s Interim City Manager, he held leadership positions with the cities of Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, and Long Beach. He is a registered civil engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada.
Since joining the City in 2023, Crumby has advanced key initiatives in infrastructure, sustainability, and Great Park development. As Irvine’s first Director of Project Delivery & Sustainability, he managed nearly $100 million in capital projects annually and led efforts in environmental and transportation programs. He later served as Assistant City Manager – Great Park/External Operations, overseeing development, public works, and sustainability operations.
Crumby and his wife, Clarice, have been married for 21 years and enjoy traveling and spending time with their dogs, Finchley and Brixton.

 Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum Groundbreaking
The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, in partnership with the City of Irvine, celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Marine Corps Aviation Museum at the Great Park. The ceremony honored the legacy of Marine Corps Aviation and marked the start of construction on a facility set to open in spring 2027.
The new museum will feature more than 40 restored aircraft, a research library, and STEAM-focused programs for youth and college students.
The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is the first museum to break ground in the Cultural Terrace, part of the Great Park Framework Plan. The plan adds 300 acres of new amenities to the existing 500 acres of developed park space, creating a 1,300-acre world-class municipal park.

 2/11 Holiday Toy Drive: Brighten the Holidays for Marine Families
Help spread holiday cheer by donating to the City of Irvine’s annual Holiday Toy Drive, benefiting families of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marines. From November 1 through December 13, the community is invited to donate new, unwrapped gifts for infants and children up to age 12 at convenient drop-off locations throughout the City.
Nine City facilities serve as drop-off locations. There are also two Drive-thru Drop-off Events taking place Sunday, December 7, and Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Irvine Civic Center parking lot.

Shop and Celebrate the Season at the 43rd Annual Holiday Faire
Arts in Irvine invites the community to kick off the holiday season at the 43rd Annual Holiday Faire, Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex.
This festive event transforms the Palm Court into a lively marketplace filled with art, creativity, and holiday spirit. Browse handcrafted gifts from local artists and makers, including ceramics, jewelry, home décor, and more — all to the sounds of live holiday music.

 New Workforce Development and Financial Empowerment Workshop
The City of Irvine is hosting a new six-week Workforce Development and Financial Empowerment Workshop for Irvine residents beginning Friday, November 7.
The free program, held in collaboration with the Community Action Partnership of Orange County, is tailored to adults who are seeking to strengthen job skills, build confidence, and achieve lasting financial stability and growth.
Workshop sessions will take place on Fridays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Heritage Park Library November 7 through December 19. Topics include career exploration, job searching, resume building, and interview skills, as well as financial empowerment.
Registration is open to Irvine residents only. Attendance at all six sessions is highly recommended to ensure participants receive the full benefit of the program’s comprehensive curriculum.

City of Irvine Wall of Recognition Nominations
The nomination period for the 2025 City of Irvine Wall of Recognition is underway now through December 30. Residents are invited to nominate an individual or organization that has made a lasting impact on the Irvine community. This honor celebrates those who helped shape the City’s beginnings and those who continue to build upon its foundation of excellence for future generations.
Nomination forms and criteria are available through Community & Library Services at Civic Center West, 17101 Armstrong Ave., or online at cityofirvine.org/publicrecognition.
Completed applications must be submitted or postmarked by 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 30.
