In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge Map

 JOST Bridge Construction Impacts to the I-5 Freeway

The following nighttime closures for the I-5 Freeway will take place Monday, October 13, through Friday, October 17:

  • Northbound I-5 Freeway Jeffrey Road off-ramp and Sand Canyon Avenue off-ramp closures.
  • Southbound State Route 133 (SR-133) to northbound I-5 Freeway connector closure.

All work will occur from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. 

The closures will allow crews to complete the removal of falsework steel beams and plywood forms over the I-5 Freeway for the Jeffrey Open Space Trail (JOST) Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge project.

Street Rehabilitation & Slurry Seal in the Woodbridge Neighborhoods

The City will be performing slurry seal operations along West and East Yale Loop, Yale Avenue, and Warner Avenue in the Woodbridge neighborhood. The project will include the application of slurry seal as well as utility adjustment work on behalf of the Irvine Ranch Water District. This work involves resetting manhole and water valve covers to grade on the newly repaved streets.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, October 13, and be completed Thursday, October 16. Work will occur Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The dates below reflect the most current construction information, but are subject to change. 

  • West Yale Loop (Barranca Parkway to Yale Avenue, both directions): October 13–14
  • East Yale Loop (Yale Avenue to Barranca Parkway, both directions): October 15–16
  • Warner Avenue: October 15–16
  • Yale Avenue: October 15–16

Every effort will be made to complete this essential work quickly to minimize inconvenience to the community.

Construction Notice - Woodbridge

Full Weekend Closure I-405 Irvine Center Drive Off-Ramp

A full weekend closure of the southbound (SB) I-405 Irvine Center Drive off-ramp is scheduled for Friday, October 17, at 10 p.m. through Monday, October 20, at 5 a.m. for crews to safely perform striping, paving, and drainage work at the off-ramp.

Detour routes will be posted to help motorists navigate through the area during the closure. Please follow all temporary construction signage and reduce traveling speed through the construction zone.

Scheduled Palm Tree Maintenance

The City will be performing scheduled palm tree maintenance pruning between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the following dates and locations. This work will require closing one lane on each side of the median. 

  • Saturday, October 11
    • MacArthur Boulevard from Sky Park East to Douglas
    • Main Street from Sky Park South to Jamboree Road

Harvard Avenue & Michelson Drive
Intersection Improvements

The City has begun removing and replacing asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, curb ramps, and sidewalk, and modifying traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Michelson Drive.

Work will continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through May 2026 behind temporary traffic control delineators and permanent K-rail lane closures.

This intersection widening project will enhance traffic flow through the intersection and improve signal timing coordination along the Harvard Avenue and Michelson Drive corridors. The project is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.

Harvard Avenue & Michelson Drive Intersection Improvements

State Route 55 On-ramps and Dyer Road Closures

Orange County Transportation Authority crews will be reconstructing the northbound State Route 55 Dyer Road straight on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the on-ramp Monday, October 13, at 9 p.m. through Thursday, October 23, at 5 a.m.

State Route 73 Closures

There are several nightly ramp closures in Irvine on State Route 73 (SR-73) through Thursday, October 9, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. including:

  • Southbound SR-73 MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp
  • Southbound SR-73 Bison Avenue off-ramp 
  • Southbound SR-73 University Drive off-ramp
  • Southbound SR-73 Bonita Canyon Drive off-ramp 
  • Northbound SR-73 Bonita Canyon Drive on-ramp

State Route 133 Closure

The southbound State Route 133 (SR-133) connector to northbound I-405 will be fully closed through Thursday, October 9, from 11:59 p.m. to 5 a.m.
