We'd like to hear from YOU about Irvine's Climate Action & Adaptation Plan!
The City of Irvine has developed a Final Draft Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP) to address the challenges posed by climate change and create a sustainable and resilient future for all community members.
The CAAP will set ambitious yet achievable emissions reduction targets for the City and outline a pathway to achieving our climate goals across both municipal operations and the community. Through thoughtfully planned greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction and climate adaptation measures, the CAAP will build upon Irvine’s previous steps toward climate leadership in Orange County to create a truly climate-smart City for the future.
The public comment period is now open!
Review the Final Draft Climate Action and Adaptation Plan and provide your input by October 3!

Irvine is One of the First Clean California Communities
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the City of Irvine was officially recognized as one of the first 32 Clean California Communities statewide and one of four in Orange County. This means the City attained at least 10 of the 15 required criteria: pledge, advisory board, community input, community education, youth education, infrastructure, greening and beautification, collection drives, partnerships, and cigarette litter reduction. This designation is a testament to Irvine’s dedication and hard work in reducing litter, enhancing public spaces, and inspiring pride in the community. Learn more at CleanCA.com.

 Pumpkins, Pie, and Planet-Friendly Practices!
As we enjoy the flavors of fall and festive pumpkin carving, let’s not forget about sustainability! Leftover food and pumpkin scraps can be composted instead of heading to the landfill, reducing methane emissions and enriching soil. Be sure to remove candles or decorations before placing pumpkins in your green lid organics container. Small changes like this help us celebrate the season responsibly and reduce waste.
