Prepare Irvine: Participate in National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month, and the City of Irvine is asking residents to share their input through a Community Disaster Resiliency Survey. The survey will help the City better understand how prepared the community is for emergencies such as earthquakes, wildfires, and power outages. Results will guide future planning, outreach, and training.
Residents are also encouraged to participate in preparedness activities this month:
-
AlertOC Regional Test: On Wednesday, September 17, at approximately 10:30 a.m., the City will take part in a countywide test of AlertOC, Orange County’s mass notification system. Registered phones and devices will receive a test message. Sign up at AlertOC.com to ensure you receive critical alerts in an emergency.
-
Great Park Emergency Alert Test: At the same time, 10:30 a.m., the City will test a new emergency speaker system at the Great Park Sports Complex. Visitors and nearby residents may hear sirens or audible messages during the test.
-
Take the survey today to help shape Irvine’s preparedness efforts.
National Preparedness Month is a reminder for everyone to take small, everyday steps to be ready before an emergency. This year’s theme, Preparedness Starts at Home, highlights the importance of family readiness.
