Fiesta Latina en Irvine Returns to the Great Park
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the fourth annual Fiesta Latina en Irvine Sunday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Park.
This free, family-friendly festival features live music and dance, authentic cuisine, artisan vendors, cultural workshops, and activities for all ages. Highlights include salsa and folk dance performances, calavera makeup demonstrations, Lotería, and more.
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed nationally from September 15 to October 15 and recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

Irvine Police Department Open House
The Irvine Police Department invites the community to an Open House Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center. This special event marks 50 years of service to the community.
Meet Irvine Police Officers and professional staff, enjoy K-9 and motorcycle demonstrations, and explore police vehicles up close. The event will feature activities for all ages, giveaways, and photo opportunities. The first 200 guests will receive a mystery gift.
Food trucks will be on-site offering lunch and snacks. Parking is available at Colonel Bill Barber Memorial Park, Creekside High School, and Free Chapel, with free shuttle service provided from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Volunteer at the Irvine Global Village Festival
The Irvine Global Village Festival returns Saturday, October 11, celebrating the cultural diversity that makes our community shine. This event is one of the City’s largest and most vibrant traditions, and it is made possible thanks to the support of dedicated volunteers.
Each year, more than 600 volunteers help transform the festival into a day filled with music, food, art, and connection. From setting up and guiding guests to supporting vendors and keeping the Kids Village running smoothly, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Applications are due by September 30. To apply, visit cityofirvine.org/festivalvolunteer.

Pacific Symphony SummerFest Continues at Great Park Live September 6
Experience the grandeur of Tchaikovsky’s most iconic works, the First Piano Concerto and the 1812 Overture, in this exhilarating concert by Pacific Symphony Saturday, September 6, at 8 p.m.
Your evening under the stars opens with the soaring beauty of the Waltz from Sleeping Beauty followed by the ever-popular Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring a stunning performance by Natasha Paremski that will captivate and thrill. After intermission, immerse yourself in the dramatic intensity of Francesca da Rimini, a symphonic poem filled with vivid storytelling. The evening culminates with the explosive 1812 Overture, a thrilling celebration of Tchaikovsky’s bold compositional mastery.

Celebrate 35 Years of the Barclay
Join the community on Sunday, September 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Irvine Barclay Theatre, 4242 Campus Drive, for a free afternoon of family-friendly activities and live music. From 1 to 2:30 p.m., enjoy face painting, caricature artists, and a marionette puppet theater in the outdoor Barclay Plaza.
At 3 p.m., Phat Cat Swinger will bring their upbeat, retro swing sound to the stage inside the theatre. Admission is free, but tickets are required and can be reserved at thebarclay.org. Discounted parking is available in the UCI structure at Campus Drive and West Peltason for $10.

There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
September 4: International Taekwondo Day — A day recognizing the Korean martial art of Taekwondo, which emphasizes kicking and striking techniques. The observance marks the sport’s addition to the Olympic Games in 2000 and honors its cultural significance.
September 11: Patriot Day — A national day of remembrance honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Communities reflect on the courage of victims, first responders, and citizens who demonstrated resilience in the face of tragedy.
