Suggested Routes to School Open House
Join us Thursday, September 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Deerfield Community Center to review draft maps and potential improvements for safer travel around schools.
Suggested Routes to School helps create safe conditions around campuses and encourages students, parents, and staff to walk, bike, or roll. In partnership with Irvine Unified School District, Tustin Unified School District, and local schools, the City is developing tailored studies, maps, and action plans for all 45 public schools in Irvine.

Fiesta Latina en Irvine Returns to the Great Park
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the fourth annual Fiesta Latina en Irvine Sunday, September 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Great Park.
This free, family-friendly festival features live music and dance, authentic cuisine, artisan vendors, cultural workshops, and activities for all ages. Highlights include salsa and folk dance performances, calavera makeup demonstrations, Lotería, and more.
Hispanic Heritage Month is observed nationally from September 15 to October 12 and recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

Comedy Unleashed
Join the Irvine Animal Care Center for the ninth annual Comedy Unleashed Tuesday, September 16, at the Irvine Improv.
This fundraiser features dinner, top comedians, and an evening of laughter — all to support animals in need. Tickets are $56; doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Ages 18 and older.

 Experience the Unexpected
The 41st Irvine Annual is in its final week at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. This juried exhibition features works from more than 70 artists, showcasing diverse media and perspectives that challenge the familiar and reframe the ordinary.
Visit by August 30 to explore contemporary dialogues, historical influences, and imaginative expressions that inspire connection and conversation.

 Irvine Rider Education Program – Motorcycle Safety Training
The Irvine Police Department Traffic Bureau invites motorcyclists to participate in the popular Irvine Rider Education Program (I-REP), led by experienced IPD Motorcycle Training Officers.
Saturday, September 13 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Irvine Civic Center
This full-day course focuses on improving riding skills, enhancing safety awareness, and building confidence on the road. Registration is required, and Irvine residents will receive priority. To sign up, email whill@cityofirvine.org.
Participant Requirements
- Riders must hold a valid California DMV M-1 license and current insurance.
- Motorcycles must be in good repair and will be inspected before class.
- Riders must wear a DOT-approved helmet, gloves, closed-toe riding shoes, and pants during training.
- A positive attitude and openness to learning are essential.

All September: National Recovery Month September is National Recovery Month, raising awareness about substance use and mental health, celebrating recovery, and promoting support resources for individuals and communities.
September 2: Labor Day Labor Day honors the contributions of workers and the labor movement. Observed the first Monday in September, it also marks the unofficial end of summer.
