Healthy Pets Start Here
Keep your pet healthy at the Irvine Animal Care Center’s low-cost vaccine and microchipping clinic Sunday, August 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. No appointment is needed — just drop in.
Hosted by Vet Care Vaccination Services (VCVS), this first-come, first-served clinic takes place in the Irvine Animal Care Center parking lot at 6443 Oak Canyon. All pets checked in by 11 a.m. will receive vaccination services.
It’s affordable, convenient, and focused on what matters most — your pet’s health.

Help Shape the Future of Heritage Community Park
The City of Irvine is updating the Heritage Community Park Master Plan and invites the community to participate in upcoming workshops. Explore the park through diverse perspectives, share your feedback, and help guide future improvements.
Workshops will be held Wednesday, August 21, and Wednesday, September 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Community Park, 14301 Yale Ave.

Splash-In Movie & Recreation Swim
Make a splash at the annual Splash-In Movie & Recreation Swim Saturday, August 23, at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. Swim, float, and enjoy Shrek (PG) on a large outdoor screen in the shallow pool.
The pool opens at 6:30 p.m. The movie starts at 7:15 p.m. Guests can enjoy diving boards, a water slide, and an obstacle course. Lifeguards will be on duty, and children ages 6 and under must be accompanied one-on-one by an adult in the water.
Bring floaties to exchange for a free, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket for children ages 6 and under while supplies last. Admission is $2.50 per child and $5 per adult.

Irvine Nights: Thursday Night Market – Country After Dark August 21
Grab your boots and join us for Country After Dark at Great Park Live! Presented by PSQ Productions in partnership with the City of Irvine, this weekly summer series brings the community together for an evening of local food, shopping, live music, and family fun.

This Week in DE&I
There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
August 15: National Liberation Day of Korea / Victory Over Japan Day — Marks Korea’s liberation from 35 years of Japanese rule in 1945, supported by the United States and Allied powers. Known globally as Victory Over Japan Day, it is celebrated on August 15 in many countries; in the U.S., the observance is in September.
August 15: Indian Independence Day — Celebrates India’s independence from British rule in 1947. The day is marked by flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, cultural programs, and displays of the Indian tricolor to honor the nation’s history and achievements.
August 15: Feast of the Assumption — A Christian holy day commemorating the belief that the Virgin Mary was taken into Heaven at the end of her earthly life. It is celebrated by Catholic, Orthodox, and other Christian denominations worldwide.
August 16: Parsi New Year — Observed in India, this holiday marks the start of the new year in the Shahenshahi calendar. Families gather for prayers, share traditional dishes, exchange gifts, and take part in charitable giving.
August 19: World Humanitarian Day — Recognizes humanitarian workers and honors those who have lost their lives in service. The day also raises awareness about global humanitarian needs and the importance of international cooperation.
