Read All About It: Irvine Public Library Grand Opening
Join us Sunday, August 3, for the grand opening of the Irvine Public Library. Celebrate with ribbon-cutting ceremonies, live performances, and family-friendly activities.
Heritage Park Library: 1–4 p.m.
University Park Library: 2–5 p.m.

2025 National Night Out at the Great Park
Join the Irvine Police Department for National Night Out Tuesday, August 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Great Park Palm Court Arts Complex.
This free community event brings neighbors and public safety together for a safer, stronger Irvine. Meet Irvine Police officers and Orange County firefighters, explore police and fire vehicles, and enjoy interactive activities. Food trucks, community booths, and giveaways will also be available.
The Great Park is located at 8000 Great Park Blvd. Free parking is available in Lot 2.

Silverado Fire and OCFA Firescaping Workshop
Learn how to protect your home and community from wildfire risks at this free workshop with the Orange County Fire Authority and Irvine Ranch Water District. Instructor Jonathan Lim will share tips from his wildfire experience, covering fire-resistant landscaping, home hardening, and evacuation planning. The workshop is open to homeowners, renters, HOA members, and anyone interested in fire safety.

Float with the Flame at Wild Rivers
Join the Irvine Police Department for Float with the Flame, a Law Enforcement Torch Run aquatic event benefiting Special Olympics Southern California. The event will be held Friday, August 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Wild Rivers.
Float along the Lazy River with the inflatable Flame of Hope and help raise funds and awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities. This event celebrates fun, acceptance, and unity in our community.

Behind the Art: Go behind the scenes with Jurors of the 41st Irvine Annual
Join us for an insightful conversation Saturday, August 2, at 2 p.m. at the Irvine Fine Arts Center with guest jurors Elizabeth Munzón, Dakota Noot, and Stephanie Sherwood as they share their experiences as artists, curators, and creative professionals in today’s evolving art world.
This free panel discussion offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the jurors about their career paths, the challenges and rewards of building an art practice, curating exhibitions, and creating community and opportunity in the arts.

Irvine Nights brings food, shopping, music, and fun to Great Park Live every Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. Enjoy local vendors, tasty eats, and entertainment for all ages.

Thursday, July 31 — Beats & Bites Dance to 2000s throwbacks from live DJs and catch a live broadcast with Cece from KDAY.
The event takes place at Great Park Live with free admission and complimentary parking — arrive early for the best experience.

Summer in the City Continues!
Enjoy free, family-friendly events at Irvine parks through August. Bring friends, family, and neighbors for Movies on the Lawn, Summer Concerts, and Symphony in the Cities.
Movies on the Lawn Hicks Canyon Community Park Food trucks open at 6 p.m., and movies begin after sunset. Bring low-back chairs, blankets, and a picnic to enjoy the evening.

This Week in DE&I
There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
August 7: Purple Heart Day — Purple Heart Day honors the brave service members who were wounded or killed while serving in the U.S. military. The Purple Heart, awarded by the President, recognizes their courage and sacrifice. This day is a time to remember their service and ensure their heroism is never forgotten.
August 9: International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples — Observed annually on August 9, this day raises awareness of indigenous peoples’ rights and honors their contributions, including efforts to protect the environment.
