Celebrate Park & Recreation Month
This July, the City of Irvine invites you to explore local parks and earn fun prizes through the Park & Recreation Month Challenge that runs through Thursday, July 31.
Pick up a passport at select City facilities or download one at cityofirvine.org/parks. Then, visit parks, complete simple activities, and collect stamps from City staff. Bonus stamps are available at select events, including the Pop-Up Library Sunday, July 13, and Wilderness Access Day Saturday, July 19.
Collect six stamps to earn a sticker sheet or 12 stamps for a limited-edition water bottle (while supplies last).

Now Open: One Irvine Applications
Applications are now open for the City's One Irvine neighborhood revitalization program. This initiative supports older neighborhoods by offering grants and loans for home improvements, helping maintain quality of life as communities evolve.
Eligible owners of single-family homes or condominiums built in or before 1980 may qualify for:

Green Home Grants – up to $1,500 per household

Home Improvement Loans – up to $25,000 for sustainable upgrades or critical repairs
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and must be fully completed to be considered. Required documentation includes photo ID, grant deed or deed of trust, recent utility bill, and full property insurance documentation. Homes with a reverse mortgage or more than three liens are not eligible.
Since its launch, One Irvine has helped support neighborhood revitalization by awarding over 100 grants and 130 loans.

PAC-MAN Fingerboarding Experience with Slushcult
Experience PAC-MAN like never before at the PAC-MAN Fingerboarding Experience with Slushcult, happening Saturday, July 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Great Park Studio within the Palm Court Arts Complex. This free event is part of the Journey Through the Maze: 45 Years of PAC-MAN exhibition and brings the classic arcade game to life with custom fingerboard skate parks created in partnership with Slushcult — a fun and inclusive fingerboarding community.
Try out fingerboarding on themed mini skate parks, explore PAC-MAN’s history, and see how the game has influenced both gaming and street culture.
Free limited-edition PAC-MAN fingerboards will be given out to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Explore What’s Next in Contemporary Art
Join us for the Opening Reception of the 41st Irvine Annual on Saturday, July 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. This juried exhibition, formerly known as All Media, highlights the work of more than 70 local, regional, and national artists working across a wide range of visual media.
From contemporary issues to culturally inspired narratives, Irvine Annual celebrates diverse artistic voices and perspectives. Be part of the opening and experience the creativity and dialogue shaping today’s art scene.

The 30-day public comment period for the Urban Forest Master Plan is now open. The master plan will guide the City in achieving a 30% tree canopy cover by 2055.
Community members are encouraged to review the master plan and share their thoughts on Irvine’s urban forestry goals by Monday, July 18. Your input will ensure the master plan reflects community values and priorities and will shape the City's practices, guidelines, and initiatives related to urban forestry. Review the Urban Forest Master Plan and send comments via email to ufmp@dudek.com.

This Week in DE&I
There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
July 10: Chronic Disease Day — Chronic Disease Day raises awareness about conditions that cause seven out of the 10 leading causes of death in the U.S. It’s a time to reflect on how we can prevent chronic illnesses and better support those living with conditions that can’t be prevented.
July 14: Bastille Day — Bastille Day, France’s national holiday, marks the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 — a key moment in the French Revolution. Today, it’s celebrated with parades, fireworks, and cultural festivities around the world.
July 18: Nelson Mandela International Day — Nelson Mandela Day honors the legacy of a global leader who stood for justice, dignity, and equality. In recognition of his 67 years of service, people are encouraged to spend 67 minutes doing something positive for their communities.
