There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
April 12–20: Passover — Passover is a Jewish holiday that remembers the story of the Israelites gaining freedom from slavery in Egypt. Families celebrate with a special meal called a Seder and eat symbolic foods like matzah (unleavened bread).
April 18: Good Friday — Good Friday is a solemn Christian day that remembers the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Many people attend quiet church services to reflect on his sacrifice.
April 20: Easter — Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and is the most important holiday in the Christian calendar. It’s also a time of spring renewal, with traditions like church services, egg hunts, and family gatherings.
April 24: Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day — This day honors the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who lost their lives starting in 1915. It’s a time to reflect, remember, and raise awareness about their history and its lasting impact.
