April 2–9, 2025
In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.
Annual Bridge Maintenance: Irvine Boulevard Bridge
The City will be conducting maintenance on the Irvine Boulevard bridge over Peters Canyon Channel. Crews will apply a protective methacrylate resin sealer to the bridge surface. This material has a strong odor but is safe and commonly used for bridge maintenance.
Work will take place weekdays beginning Thursday, April 3, through Thursday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Annual Street Rehabilitation and Slurry Seal
The City will be conducting pavement rehabilitation and slurry seal operations in the communities of West Irvine, North Park, and North Park Square. This project includes the application of slurry seal and necessary asphalt repairs to help extend the life of existing streets and maintain the integrity of Irvine’s roadways, ensuring a smoother ride for drivers.
Additionally, in collaboration with Irvine Ranch Water District, the project will involve resetting manhole and water valve covers to grade on streets that have been repaved.
Work began Tuesday, April 1, and will take place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on residential streets, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on arterial streets.
The entire project is expected to be completed in spring 2025.

Civic Center Parking Lot Rehabilitation
The City continues to make improvements to the Civic Center parking lot, as the next phase of construction begins the week of April 7.
Work will be done Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the next four weeks, weather permitting. This phase of the project includes upgrading the accessible path in front of the Civic Center, removing the concrete bollards in front of the Civic Center and the Irvine Child Development Center, and installing underground conduits for future carports.
There will be a significant impact on parking availability at the Civic Center.
For residents visiting the City Hall Vote Center opening Saturday, April 5, 10 parking spaces will be designated as Vote Center parking. There will also be a drive-thru ballot drop-off option.
Additional parking is available off of Harvard Avenue and San Juan.
While the Civic Center parking lot will be impacted, access to City Hall and the Irvine Child Development Center (ICDC) will be maintained.
Phantom Class IV Protected Bikeway
The City is continuing to make improvements to Irvine’s bicycle infrastructure with the construction of its second Class IV Protected Bikeway, which features a physical barrier between drivers and cyclists.
Work will be done on Phantom between Ridge Valley and Corsair Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will continue through mid-April.
No full road closures are anticipated; however, temporary traffic control will reduce and shift travel lanes around work areas. Please use alternate routes when possible.

SR-55 Improvement Project Closures
Orange County Transportation Authority crews will be removing and pouring concrete to reconstruct the northbound State Route 55 (SR-55) Dyer Road off-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp on northbound SR-55 between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road.
The off-ramps are expected to be closed through Friday, April 11.
Additionally, to accommodate ongoing pile driving operations, the outside left-turn lane on eastbound Dyer Road, as well as the outside lane on northbound Grand Avenue will be closed. Work began Monday, March 31, and will continue for approximately two weeks.
Detour signs will be posted in advance. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before traveling through the area. View the latest closures and detours.
Learn about additional projects taking place throughout our City, including project descriptions and work hours, as well as any lane closures and night and weekend work, which may occur intermittently on major arterials when permitted.
